God’s Sovereignty, Our Responsibility

Golden crown resting on barren ground beneath dramatic clouds, with a heavy iron chain in the foreground, symbolizing God’s sovereignty and human responsibility.

Sovereign properly means possessing all authority—ruling freely without any higher power over you. That doesn’t mean God merely watches from a distance, nor that His creatures are turned into robots. Scripture teaches that God actively governs all things according to His will (Ephesians 1:11; Hebrews 1:3), yet we still act as real, responsible agents. Compatibilism … Read more

The Authority of King Jesus

God is glorified in the faithful proclamation of His word. In 2 Corinthians 2:15-16, Paul wrote, “For we are a fragrance of Christ to God among those who are being saved and among those who are perishing; to the one an aroma from death to death, to the other an aroma from life to life” (LSB). Leaving Calvinism’s Parking Lot

With what we’ve examined so far, it seems to me Our Brother was seeking an experience and didn’t find it. Nothing in his letter about “Why I Left Reformed Theology” lends confidence to an understanding of what he was drawn to or departed from. This truth is the bedrock of the abortion abolition movement: Life is sacred because we are created in God’s likeness. Taking a human life, especially an innocent one, outside of narrowly defined circumstances is a capital offense according to God’s standard of justice. Abortion, as the destruction of a bearer of God’s image, is murder and has historically been opposed by Christianity.

Let’s explore these topics in greater detail. Harmonization of the Bible Some may wonder if the diverse accounts in the Bible can truly be harmonized. Ultimately, the … Read more

Exposing Evil, Abolishing Excuses

Abortion abolitionists, Christians, should expose evil, not hide it. Apathy is wicked. It’s not loving our preborn neighbor to turn a blind-eye to their plight. Likewise, it is written in Ephesians 5:11, “Take no part in the unfruitful works of the darkness, but instead expose them.” By exposing evil, we glorify God by creating clear … Read more
